Director of Therapeutic Recreation

Originally from Peru but raised in Miami, Amy knew from a very young age that she wanted to pursue a career in the healthcare field. She graduated from Florida International University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and sports management, and a minor degree in psychology. Shortly after graduating, her passion for helping others live a meaningful lifestyle expanded when she began working at the wonderful Palmetto Subacute Care Center. She quickly fell in love with the geriatric population and wanted to do so much more for them. She then continued her professional journey and began to pursue her master’s degree in recreation therapy, with a focus on multi-sensory stimulation for individuals with memory impairment. As a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist, Amy is continually working on innovative techniques to enrich the lives of her beloved residents here at Palmetto Subacute.
