Johane Barratteau, MSN, APRN, FNP-CB

Johane earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Purdue University in 2021, completing the Family Nurse Practitioner program with a Doctor of Nursing Practice concentration. Her nursing journey began as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), followed by earning a Registered Nurse (RN) license through a bridge program at Dade College. She later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Kaplan University and continued her education to become a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Before becoming an APRN, she gained extensive leadership experience in long-term and post-acute care, serving as Nurse Supervisor, Unit Manager, Infection Preventionist, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), and Clinical Educator, and as a Unit Manager and Infection Preventionist before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Johane began her APRN career in Urology at the University of Miami, where she further strengthened her clinical expertise and commitment to patient-centered care. She is passionate about education, mentorship, and developing the next generation of healthcare professionals and finds great fulfillment in helping nursing staff grow in confidence, knowledge, and clinical skills, knowing that their success directly improves patient outcomes and strengthens the community they serve. She believes that education empowers both caregivers and patients, and often reminds her staff and patients that “Education is key. It promotes compliance in care, and people are always more receptive when they understand the rationale behind their treatment plans.” Since joining Palmetto Subacute Care Center in December 2025 as a Clinical Educator, she has been dedicated to fostering a culture of learning, compassion, teamwork, and excellence in patient care. Her approach centers on treating every resident with dignity, respect, and understanding while supporting families through education and open communication. Outside of healthcare, she enjoys traveling and exploring different countries, experiencing diverse cultures, and appreciating God's creation through nature and outdoor adventures. Johane enjoys boating, nature excursions, reading, and listening to music. She is a devoted wife and proud mother of three. She values faith in God, family, and service as the foundation of her life. She is a woman of strong faith who places God at the center of everything she does and believes that faith guides both her personal and professional journey. One of her favorite sayings is, “If God is not in first, then I'm not in.”
