Ms. Cruz arrived at Palmetto Subacute Care Center on September 17th, 2019 after hospitalization at Coral Gables Hospital. She is a 56-year-old patient who had pain on her buttock and needed to recover from her pressure sore surgery.

Ms. Cruz shared that her mom was a patient at Palmetto Subacute Care Center. She stated, “My mother was a patient at Palmetto Subacute and I would visit her every day. What really caught my attention was the patient care. So, when I was in the hospital, about to be discharged, I was provided with a list of rehabilitation centers. I recognized Palmetto Subacute and decided this was the right place for me!”

Ms. Cruz was warmly greeted by multiple professionals of the Palmetto team who anticipated her arrival. She was evaluated by both the physical therapy team (PT) and occupational therapy team (OT), and a treatment plan was put in place based on their objective findings. The team also developed a discharge plan and goal in coordination with her care plan.

Ms. Cruz was able to perform bed mobility with maximal assistance and was able to transfer from wheelchair to bed. Ms.Cruz was motivated and willing to participate in therapy. She is currently able to tolerate two hours of activity out of bed. Ms. Cruz was known to be a very cheerful person during her time with therapy. She would even often bring his own music for extra motivation. “I feel stronger than ever thanks to the team here at Palmetto subacute!”.
