How Did the Patient Hear About Palmetto Sub-Acute? Previous Resident.
Details of Experience:
Mrs. F. was recently hospitalized at Mt. Sinai Hospital on February 23, 2025. She began to have frequent falls at home and nonstop coughing, which prompted her to call her daughter and rush back to the hospital. She was quickly rushed to Mt. Sinai, and an intensive medical intervention was conducted. Mrs. F. was admitted for Acute hypercapnic respiratory failure, also known as type 2 respiratory failure, affecting her ADL’s (activites of daily living).
Once she was discharged to Palmetto Sub-Acute on February 23, 2024, her journey back to her independent life began. Upon her admission process, she had so many questions and concerns. She wanted to go home and be healthy again, and she was worried about her time here and how long she might have to be away from her family and friends. I assured her that the time here was temporary, but she would be leaving with a new sense of strength she didn’t know she would have before her time here.
Being one of our prior residents, she was happy to see familiar faces in her care team. Mrs. F stated, “You can feel the love from the staff here, and returning to Palmetto was an easy choice.” Her favorite part of the day was doing speech therapy with Janelle and her physical therapy with Dimitri. They encouraged Mrs. F to continue her therapy lessons once she was back home.
Mrs. F was over the moon with her care here at Palmetto Sub Acute. She found her strength again and was able to be discharged back home within the month. During her time with us, she understood that therapy and nursing played an important part in her recovery, and Mrs. F was able to walk out of Palmetto on her own. We wish her continued success on her healthcare journey.
